Hello, welcome to my website.
My name is Luis Trevino
I graduated from the University of Texas - San Antonio with a master's degree in statistics and data science. During these years I developed a strong foundation in applied statistics (including regression analysis, survival analysis, and data mining), mathematical statistics, and advanced SAS and R programming skills. CERTIFICATIONS
PROJECTS
• Summary: Conducted a thorough regression analysis on a dataset comprising 421 residential home sale prices and nine predictor variables. Developed a regression model utilizing six significant predictors to accurately estimate home sale prices within the market, leveraging available knowledge of the predictor variables.
• Summary: Utilized SAS (PROC REG, PROC LIFEREG, PROC PGREG) to conduct hypothesis testing on various datasets focused on survival analysis. Employed Excel for creating tables and performing complex formula computations. Leveraged LaTeX to articulate mathematical equations, definitions, and solutions, resulting in reports covering diverse topics, incorporating SAS results and Excel tables.
• Summary: Conducted web scraping on renowned movie review-aggregation websites, imdb.com and rottentomatoes.com, to gather data on the highest and lowest rated movies. Utilized this data to generate visual representations highlighting the factors influencing movie ratings across eleven potential variables.
• Summary: Engaged with three distinct datasets, performing data cleaning, merging, and manipulation on background and demographic information for 300 students. This process aimed to generate a report for a one-way analysis-of-variance (ANOVA). Successfully demonstrated a significant statistical difference in independent population means between student "emotionality" (self-reported emotional well-being) and their academic grades.
• Summary: Analyzed the City of Chicago crimes dataset spanning from 2001 to the present, containing 7.2 million observations across 22 variables. Additionally, performed web scraping on MLB Chicago White Sox data. Investigated the correlation between crime occurrences and baseball sporting events in different neighborhoods of interest. Ultimately, discovered a statistically significant relationship indicating increased crime rates on baseball game days.
• Summary: Processed and analyzed two datasets about global hunger rates, created visuals from the data, and then created a comprehensive report (using R markdown) with cited information, predictions, and visuals for a general audience.
